The impressive Andean
mountains look over a village and its people in this singular
wall hanging by Luis Paucar. Whitewashed houses boast red tiled
roofs as they surround the church and its extraordinary belfry.
Paucar's keen eye for detail guides her in the faithful
depiction of this village, which she achieves with San Pedro de
Cajas's legendary weaving techniques. A breathtaking view of a
Peruvian landscape, this wall hanging makes for a captivating
decorative accent.
Luis uses a blend of natural and artificial dyes to obtain a
vast spectrum of colors. Working with wool threads on a pedal
hand-loom, Luis creates fascinating scenes of admirable woven
perfection. To finish the piece, he hand-sews the borders with
cotton threads, thus enhancing the presentation of his elaborate
artistry. |
