The ever-present mountain peaks and royal blue sky of an Andean
landscape provide the backdrop for this tapestry of the central
town square in Chincheros. The villagers have convened for
Sunday market, grouping in front of the church with its high
bell tower. Created by the Paucar family, this piece has been
entirely hand-loomed in wool (90%) and locally-grown cotton
(10%) and its texture is achieved through a technique called
"padding." Characteristic of the mountain villages dotting the
high ranges of Peru, this piece will breathe clarity and beauty
into the home. |
