The
importance that family has for Lucila Pedregal is reaffirmed in
this patchwork wall decoration. Representing the birth of Jesus
Christ, the arpillera features the biblical passage adapted to
the Andean world. In a stable under a tree, we can see Jesus,
Mary and Joseph. Animals such as sheep and llamas are also
present. We can also observe a magnificent background showing
both the telluric force of the Andes and the charming light of
the Star. The process of production is the following:
Lucila makes the arpillera’s background by stitching together
large pieces of cotton or cloth wool and then adds details by
sewing miniatures. This piece is a fantastic fusion of Andean
elements and religious beliefs that will be a great contribution
to the decoration of your house or office.
