It
is said that, during his captivity, Atahualpa, the last of the
Incas, played intense chess matches with Francisco Pizarro,
the conqueror. Since them, this sport has been a very popular
one in the continent. This magnificent hand painted chessboard
with ceramic pieces replaces the traditional black vs. whites
opposition by an original recreation of the dispute between
Spaniards and Incas. The pieces show a high degree of detail
in order to reflect the distinct appearance of the members of
each side. They can be stored using the same chessboard (which
have a superb border with geometric forms) as a box. The
talent of Dina Pancahua combines with her originality to give
this lovely piece, ideal as a gift.
